If you haven't herd yet we we chosen out of over 3000 quilt shop applicants as a Better Homes and Garden, Top Shop and featured in the 2018 Fall Quilt Sampler magazine.  We feel very honored and blessed to receive this recognition!   We found out right before Christmas last year and had to keep it a secret until announced at the Spring Quilt Market.  The icing on this fantastic cake was opening the box of magazines and seeing our quilt on the cover!  We didn't dare to dream that would happen.

Although the odds are one out of the ten shops make the cover, there are so many great projects in the magazine.  What a tough choice that had to be for their staff.  While we were in Portland at Quilt Market, the Editor, Lisa Shumacher, was announcing each of the ten shops to be featured.  She would introduce the shop owners and then show the shop's quilt to be featured. One quilt stood out in my mind that the staff just seemed to swoon over and we figured that would be on the cover.

In July we caught a glimpse online of our quilt's photo in the newest edition of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.  It was a page advertising the upcoming Quilt Sampler and with the listing of shops to be featured there was a photo of our quilt!  Again we thought to ourselves the there was no way the advertisement would give away the cover photo.

It wasn't until FedEx delivered the 17 boxes of magazines we ordered and Tom ripped open the box,  He yelled out "WERE ON THE COVER!"  The poor FedEx driver jumped out of her skin!  Again we feel honored and blessed.

We are getting daily calls, emails and messages about how folks love the quilt.  One caller said she had no intentions of buying the magazine until she saw the cover.  Many are sharing how they have their mothers or grandmother featherweight and this will make the perfect  project to hang in their sewing room!  We just don't know what to say other than "Thank you and please send photos of your quilt displayed!"

We are so glad to share this pattern and hope you enjoy!  Join the fun on Facebook where we are looking for Quilt Sampler "sightings".  We are receiving photos of the magazine on all sorts of newsstands and locations around the country. If you see it send us a pic!  If you haven't got your copy yet feel free to order it from us on our website and don't forget the kit and thread pack!

Sew much to say, Sew little time!

Hello,

As you can tell we have been very busy at everything except posting on this blog.   There is so much to say and show off but so little time to share.  We try to spend some time on Facebook and Instagram to share our patterns and happenings around the shop.  So we promise to devote some time here to share some fun things, our travels to quilt shows across the country, and some behind the scenes of our quilt shop as it gains more and more national attention.

Here is what is coming up:
     - Cross country travel to Quilt Show in Boise with some sightseeing on the way!
     - Vending at Spring International Quilt Market to show off our newest patterns to quilt shops
     - The announcement of our next national publication appearance (its a secret to be revealed soon!)
     - Guest appearance on AMERICAN PATCHWOOK AND QUILTING's Podcast with Pat Sloan!
     - Appearance in the July issue of American Quilter Magazine
     - My own line of fabric from Marcus Fabrics to be announced soon!
     - Teaching a West Virginia Quilt Festival
     - Teaching at AQS Fall Paducah Quiltweek
     - AND THERES MORE!!!!

So please share with your friends and join us for the ride.  We don't know where its leading but feel BLESSED and excited to find out!

Another busy day at the Shop!  We are getting things packed up and ready to go to the AQS Show in Grand Rapids!  Me and Tom are excited!  We love to go to the shows and talk with all of the quilters.  It is so much fun!
We just got the patterns and the kits cut up for this cute Fall wall hanging!  Its called Harvest Blessings!!! Tom will have them available our website www.calicopatch.net

I used Valdani 12 wt perle cotton to hand stitch the lettering on.  And I used Lite Steam a Seam 2 on the appliques.  Then I stitched them down with matching threads and a double blanket stitch.  But I did something a little different on the inside of the pumpkin.....I decided to use green thread and a couple of decorative stitches on it!  Our machines have so many fun stitches that we never use!  And I thought this would be a great way to get to use them!!

So....what do you all think????

Thanks SEW much for wanting to following along with me on my Blog!  After talking with a few of you, I realize that not everybody is on Facebook!  So......this will be a way that everyone can keep up with me and the Shop!
It seems like since last September when we were vendors at our first AQS Show in Chattanooga, things have been moving very fast!   This will be a great way for me to let you follow me around at the Shows and see what me and Tom are up too!
And a way to see all of the new designs I am working on!  And I will be starting a wool project that you will be able to get the patterns for free on here!!!!
Tomorrow, Aug 1st at 4 pm, I will be on American Patchwork and Quilting Podcast with Pat Sloan!!!  She stopped by my booth at a Quilt Show in Chantilly, Virginia in June, and asked if she could interview me on her Podcast!!!!  And I didn't have to think twice.....of course she can!!!  So this is going to be a new experience!  The radio station is calling me at the Shop tomorrow, just a few minutes before 4:00.  And Pat Sloan is going to be on there and interview me.....LIVE!!!!  So whatever I say....I can't take back!  This might not be a good thing!  LOL!  I will look forward to seeing what you all post on here after the Podcast!
    Thanks again!!!
